Local Sports Infrastructure Fund

The 2024-25 Local Sports Infrastructure Fund (the Fund) is a competitive Victorian Government program, open to Metropolitan Local Government Authorities.

Funding

The Fund aims to deliver new and upgraded community sports infrastructure across 3 streams:

  • Community Facilities
  • Community Sports Lighting
  • Planning.

The Fund is underpinned by the Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions’ priorities to create more opportunities for people through skills and jobs, help businesses and industries to thrive, and build vibrant communities and regions.

Program Guidelines

Timeline

  • Applications open – 28 October 2024
  • Applications close – 5 pm, 17 February 2025
  • Outcomes announced – from June 2025.

Eligibility

Only Metropolitan Victorian Local Government Authorities (LGAs) are eligible to apply to the Fund. Applications must be submitted by an authorised representative of a LGA.

Eligible applicants must submit an application via our website, addressing the assessment criteria as per Section 5 and separately email all supporting documents to communityinfrastructure@sport.vic.gov.au

Application process

Process for Clubs/local organisations

Regional Sports Assemblies, sport and recreation clubs, sporting associations and leagues, educational institutions, community organisations, disability service providers, businesses and individuals cannot directly apply to the Fund.

Applications received directly from clubs, associations, umpiring organisations, schools, community organisations, and businesses will also not be considered for funding. Please read the Guidance Note for Auspice Applications (DOCX 154.87 KB) DOCX icon.

However, a Community Organisation Expression of Interest Form has been developed to help progress applications if LGAs wish to use it.

Local clubs and organisations are advised to contact their LGAs if they wish to express interest, seek support, or be involved as a partner in applications to the Fund.

Process for Local Government Authorities

LGAs must discuss potential applications with their Sport and Recreation Victoria contact to receive feedback on eligible projects before submitting application/s.

The application process will require the submission of an online application and mandatory supporting documentation.
