Emergency Sporting Equipment Grant Program

The Emergency Sporting Equipment Grant program provides funding for community sport and active recreation organisations across Victoria. Funding will be available to 31 May 2026 or until funding is exhausted.

What you get

Access to this funding helps grassroots organisations replace or repair essential sport or first aid equipment that has been lost or destroyed because of unpreventable incidents, including bushfire, flood, significant storm, earthquake, theft, arson, or criminal damage.

Eligibility

To check your eligibility for a grant through this program, please read the program guidelines.

Applications for incidents that occur from 1 June 2025 to 31 May 2026 will be considered for funding.

Supporting evidence

Before you apply for this grant, you must obtain:

Evidence for natural disaster

Photos

  • Damaged or destroyed equipment.
  • Impact of the incident.

Reports

  • Any official weather reports.
  • Other sources of media outlining the impact of the disaster.

Evidence for criminal activity

Photos

  • Damaged or destroyed equipment.
  • Impact of the incident.

Police report

  • For all incidents of criminal activity, applicants must provide a submitted Victoria Police report.

If Victoria Police does not supply you with a written copy, you must submit the:

  • Incident Number
  • police station name, address and phone number
  • name of police officer who completed the report.

Quotes and receipts

Eligible receipts for reimbursement

  • Expenses must have been incurred after the incident date and between 1 June 2025 and 31 May 2026.
  • Proof of payment includes receipts, bank statements, or invoices that show payment has been made.

Requirements for quotes

Eligible quotes must:

  • be dated within 3 months of the incident date.
  • be equal to, or greater than the total amount requested for funding.
  • include details:
    • item
    • description
    • quantity
    • unit
    • total costs
    • the supplier’s business details (business name, ABN, and/or website).

Please note: website shopping carts, unpaid invoices and screen shots are accepted, but must include the details listed above.

Key dates

  • Program open: 2 July 2025
  • Program close: 31 May 2026 at 11:59 pm or when funding is exhausted
  • Outcomes: within 5 weeks of applying

Step 1: Check your eligibility

To identify if your organisation is eligible for funding, check the eligibility section (section 3) of the program guidelines.

Step 2: Apply using the Department’s Grants Portal

Ensure you have all required information and documents as outlined in the Supporting Documentation section (section 6) of the program guidelines.
