Grants to power up community sport and recreation

Published: 27 November 2024

We’re ramping up support for sport and recreation organisations with a new round of Together More Active Program grants available.

Indoor wheelchair rugby game

The grant program backs sport and recreation organisation initiatives that encourage participation and support volunteer and workforce development with three funding streams:

  • Sector Capability Building Funding
  • Inclusive Participation Project Funding
  • Workforce Development Project Funding.

Successful projects from past rounds include the development of a Wheelchair Rugby League program by NRL Victoria, in partnership with Wheelchair Rugby League Australia and Melbourne Storm, which gave people who use a wheelchair the opportunity to play rugby league.

The program has also backed the development of a new Lifesaving Victoria workforce development program that is promoting diversity, equity and inclusion across its paid and volunteer workforce.

State sporting associations, state sport and active recreation bodies and regional academies of sport are eligible for the Inclusive Participation and Workforce Development Project funding streams.

The Sector Capability Building grant stream is available to Regional Sport Victoria, Vicsport, Outdoors Victoria, Aquatics and Recreation Victoria, Disability Sport and Recreation and Victoria’s nine regional sport assemblies.

The Together More Active 2023-27 program is part of the Victorian Government’s Active Victoria strategy that sets out Victoria’s priorities for sport and recreation so even more people can enjoy participating in the sports they love.

Applications close on 29 January 2025. For the latest information about the program and to apply, visit Together More Active.
