New Armstrong Creek Sports Centre details revealed
Published: 26 November 2024Plans for the Armstrong Creek Sports Centre are picking up pace with the release of further details on the significant new multi-sport facility for the Geelong community.
The sports centre will include 4 indoor multi-sport courts, a café and gathering space, changing facilities and a sensory room. The centre opens out onto a civic plaza with outdoor activation areas and open space, as well as car parking with electric vehicle charging spaces.
The outdoor open space features an active zone with basketball and netball hoops, areas for skating and parkour, informal and nature play spaces and table tennis tables.
Green credentials are a feature of the new design, with the Centre being constructed to a 5 Star Green Star standard.
The Geelong community had the opportunity to learn more about plans for the sports centre during recent information sessions where new renders and planning details were presented.
The Centre is one of 3 projects in the Geelong region being delivered through the Regional Sports Infrastructure Program, with 16 projects in total across the state.
The Regional Sports Infrastructure Program is part of the Victorian Government’s record $45 billion investment over the past decade in projects and programs that matter to regional communities, including more than $2.3 billion for sport and active recreation infrastructure across Victoria.
Programs like the Regional Sports Infrastructure Program are supporting rural and regional Victoria to be an even better place to live, work and visit. The record investment is delivering what locals want and need, close to home, to attract more visitors and help local businesses grow.
