Regional Sports Infrastructure Program – Latrobe

Sporting venues in the Gippsland region are set for exciting upgrades through the Victorian Government's Regional Sports Infrastructure Program, ensuring it remains a key destination for sports, entertainment and community activities.

These upgrades will modernise facilities and support the region’s athletes, sporting clubs and community organisations.

Projects include:

  • Gippsland Regional Indoor Sports Stadium
  • Gippsland Sports and Entertainment Park
  • Morwell Gun Club
  • Ted Summerton Reserve.

With enhanced accessibility and modern amenities, sports venues in Gippsland will welcome residents, visitors and major events – boosting the local economy and creating new jobs.

Gippsland Regional Indoor Sports Stadium

The Gippsland Regional Indoor Sports Stadium project will deliver a refurbishment of courts, foyer and broadcasting facilities​, new solar panels, and change room and other amenity upgrades​.

Our delivery partner for this project is Latrobe City Council.

Gippsland Sports and Entertainment Park

The Gippsland Sports and Entertainment Park project will deliver a new pavilion with change rooms and amenities, a new change pod, redevelopment of 2 fields of play with lighting and player facilities, an upgrade to an additional field of play and car parking.

From elite soccer to live music, the Gippsland Sports and Entertainment Park is a major sport and entertainment venue for the region.

Morwell Gun Club

The Morwell Gun Club will get a new shotgun trap shooting range and security fencing​.​

Ted Summerton Reserve

The Ted Summerton Reserve in Moe will receive a refurbishment of the oval, lighting, scoreboard and sight screen​, accessibility improvements, new changerooms, refurbishment of the existing pavilion and new terracing.

15 Nov 2024 – Gippsland sporting upgrades move ahead

Gippsland’s sport and entertainment venues are getting major upgrades with plans for the Gippsland Regional Indoor Sports Stadium underway.

Local firm JJC Design has been appointed to lead design works for stadium facilities – including a new change room for officials, roof works and lighting design.

Key milestones have also been reached at the Gippsland Sports and Entertainment Park and Morwell Gun Club with the appointment of Brand Architects as the principal design consultant for both projects.

The Gippsland Sports and Entertainment Park is getting a new pavilion with change rooms, upgraded pitches with better lighting, new player facilities and a bigger car park – which will increase capacity and allow bigger competitions and tournaments to be held there.

Meanwhile, Morwell Gun Club is getting a brand new shooting range and security fencing, creating a much bigger space for the sport.

Expressions of Interest are now open for a Head Contractor to deliver the Gippsland Sports and Entertainment Park and Morwell Gun Club.

Architecture Matters has been appointed as lead design consultant for the Ted Summerton Reserve upgrade, which will include a new pavilion with change rooms, upgraded accessible change facilities, new lighting, scoreboard and sightscreen. The upgrades will be a game changer for everyone who uses the venue, including local footballers, netballers and cricketers.

These new and upgraded facilities are funded through the Regional Sports Infrastructure Program which is part of a record $45 billion investment in projects and programs that matter to regional communities – including more than $2.3 billion for sport and active recreation infrastructure across Victoria.

The Victorian Government is making a landmark investment in Gippsland’s sporting infrastructure, with huge upgrades to 4 popular facilities in the area making sure more Gippslanders can play and watch their favourite sports.

A new Gippsland Sports Package is delivering 4 projects across the region as part of the Government’s Regional Sports Infrastructure Program.

Gippsland Regional Indoor Sports Stadium is one of 15 world-class sporting facilities across the state to see major upgrades to the venue, including upgrades to 4 playing courts and new lighting and technology for broadcasting.

More players will benefit from upgrades to changerooms and toilets while new solar panels and skylights will ensure this project provides players have the facilities they need to succeed for generations to come.

From elite soccer to live music, the Gippsland Sports and Entertainment Park is a major sport and entertainment hub for the region, used by Melbourne Victory and for wrestling tournaments, concerts, expos and more.

A major upgrade will deliver a new pavilion and upgraded pitches complete with lighting and increased visitor capacity, boosting local jobs and businesses and the region’s economy as thousands of visitors flock to Gippsland to see their favourite sport and entertainment stars.

The Gippsland Sports Package is also delivering 2 more sports venue upgrades in Gippsland – including the Ted Summerton Reserve in Moe, which will benefit from a refurbished oval, lighting, amenities, and terraces while the Morwell Gun Club will also be boosted by a new shotgun trap shooting range and safety upgrades.

These projects will help increase sports participation among the Gippsland community and bring more elite sport to regional Victoria, supporting local businesses.

Further updates on the projects will be provided in the coming months, with first works to kick off later this year.
