Kicking goals for new sports centre at Armstrong Creek
Published: 14 March 2025The head contractor for the development of the new Armstrong Creek sports centre has been announced.
Development of the new sports centre at Armstrong Creek has reached a major milestone with the Victorian Government announcing the head contractor for the region’s newest sporting facility.
Fairbrother Pty Ltd have been appointed to lead the development of the Armstrong Creek Sports Centre, including 4 indoor multi-sport courts, a café and gathering space, changing facilities, sensory room and carparking including electric vehicle charging spaces.
Opening out onto a civic plaza, the centre will feature outdoor basketball and netball hoops, areas for skating and parkour, informal and nature play spaces, table tennis tables and a large, landscaped lawn suitable for hosting community events.
Environmental sustainability is a feature of the new design, with the centre targeting a Five Star Green Star certification.
Construction of the new centre is due to commence in April 2025 and is expected to be complete late 2026.
The Armstrong Creek Sports Centre, designed by Warren and Mahoney Architects, is one of 3 projects in the Geelong region and one of 16 projects across regional Victoria that are part of the Regional Sports Infrastructure Program, making our communities even better places to live, work, stay and play.
The Armstrong Creek Sports Centre will be complemented by a new 6 court indoor sporting complex in Waurn Ponds and upgraded hockey facilities at Stead Park in Corio.
The Armstrong Creek Sports Centre will also receive a $6 million funding contribution from the Australian Government.
