Construction works have just begun at the brand new Waurn Ponds Sporting Complex, funded through the Regional Sports Infrastructure Program.

The new complex will feature 6 high ball multi-sport courts, a regional-level gymnastics facility, community dance hall and studio, and flexible meeting and social spaces with kiosk and public lounge areas.

Other amenities include a parents’ room, Changing Places facility, sensory room and multi-faith room, ensuring everyone in the community can use the complex with ease. Outside, more than 300 carparking spaces will be available, with electric vehicle charging facilities.

Recognition of Wadawurrung Country is at the heart of the design for this project, with the Wadawurrung Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation involved throughout the design process. The colour palate, materials, façade, artwork and landscaping have all been informed by Wadawurrung People.

The facility will have high standards of sustainability, with the building registered to receive a 5-star Green Star building certification.

ADCO Construction has been appointed to deliver the project, alongside Principal Design Consultants ARM Architecture. ADCO Construction has extensive experience delivering sport and recreation facilities, including the State Basketball Centre in Wantirna and Ikon Park in Carlton North.

This new sporting complex will become a hub for leisure and recreation activities in the area and will help improve health, wellbeing and connection in the local community.

Construction on this exciting new project is expected to be completed in early 2027.

The Waurn Ponds Sporting Complex is fully funded by the Victorian Government. It is one of 5 projects in the Geelong and Surf Coast region and is included in the 16 projects across regional Victoria that are part of the Regional Sports Infrastructure Program, making our communities even better places to live, work, stay and play.
