ActiVIC breaking barriers through sport

Published: 10 October 2025

Reclink’s ActiVIC provides opportunities for more marginalised communities across Victoria to play the sports they love, close to home and get active and connected to community.

Through local community sports sessions like the recent Women and Girls Volleyball Program in Eumemmerring, ActiVIC is giving thousands of Victorians, including youth and those experiencing economic hardship, or social isolation the opportunity to turn the tide through sport.

A recent Victorian Government budget boost of $5 million will help ActiVIC sports sessions go to the next level – from football, netball, and basketball, to yoga, walking, and lawn games for those that haven’t engaged in sport before – in 19 locations across Victoria.

The sessions will improve social inclusion, increase confidence, encourage physical activity, boost health, and provide a chance to re-establish community connections while having fun.

Reclink CEO Dave Wells said,This investment is about more than sport – it’s about inclusion, mental wellbeing, and hope.’

‘This funding ensures we can continue creating pathways to connection, confidence and healing through community sport and recreation.’

ActiVIC is an outstanding example of the power of sport to bring people from all walks of life together to make a difference – on and off the field.

It’s part of our commitment to increase participation opportunities for all Victorians including people with disability, those that experience social isolation, poor physical health and mental wellbeing, from a low socio-economic background, including newly arrived communities.
