Get set for a new season of sporting club grants
Published: 23 October 2025Grassroots sporting clubs across Victoria can kick start a new season on a high with a Sporting Club Grant. Applications are now open for funds to help break down barriers to participation and strengthen community sport.

This year’s program places a strong emphasis on building club capacity, with grants of up to $1,500 to grow the community sport sector and help clubs remain operational and sustainable.
Grants of up to $5,000 are available for clubs to improve the skills and knowledge of volunteers, coaches and officials. Additional support of up to $5,000 is also available for clubs to plan and deliver sport activities and events.
Clubs can also apply for grants of up to $1,000 to purchase uniforms and equipment, and $750 grants are available to help athletes travel for representative competition.
For the inaugural senior women’s side of the Kilmore Football Netball Club (FNC), 2025 was more than just scoring new jumpers thanks to a Sporting Club Grant.
As Kilmore FNC Junior Vice President Paul Maher explains, ‘The funding greatly assisted in attracting participants to the club, as it resulted in lower registration fees being charged, which enabled greater involvement than what may otherwise have been possible.'
‘Most of the players had never played together before and it was great to see them bond and enjoy success on the field and create friendships off the field.’
‘On field the team reached the NFNL Division 2 Preliminary Final, which was an outstanding achievement in their inaugural season.’
‘Having the senior women's team around the club was a huge benefit. All women involved contributed to the teams’ success and greatly contributed to the club off field, arranging social events, helping out around the club and lifting the overall atmosphere of the place.’
Over the past decade, the Sporting Club Grants Program has injected more than $19.5 million in support to thousands of community sport and active recreation clubs across the state just like Kilmore.
It’s backed by the Regional Community Sport Development Fund that is delivering infrastructure and other programs including the Regional Community Sport Infrastructure Fund to support more regional Victorians to become and remain physically active.
These initiatives are part of the Victorian Government’s commitment to make community sport and recreation more inclusive and accessible, stimulate local economies, build sustainable sport and recreation volunteer opportunities and increase participation.
Applications for this round close 26 November 2025. For more information and to apply visit Sporting Club Grants Program.
