We're really excited about this facility here in Morwell and the future of football for Gippsland.

It's a real game changer for us and the development of youth and pathways in Gippsland.

Vision: Pitch 5.
Having an A-grade pitch is what the senior players, men and women, always want. You can play your best soccer on there, and knowing that you've got a synthetic pitch, it's beautiful to have that choice. The clubrooms are at another level, which I'm sure will bring a lot of joy.

Definitely, having this type of facility allows us to retain the referees that we've got, and it does actually help us develop these referees, so not only for local refereeing in the sport, but also to help them develop and go further, maybe even refereeing in Melbourne as well.
Vision: Michael Colantuono Gippsland United Football Club Treasurer speaks to camera.

So, from a spectator point of view, it's fantastic. We've got covered facilities, fantastic parking, hosting, you know, five or six games every weekend.

This precinct offers opportunities for additional events and tournaments to come, whether that is state, national or even international.

Morwell’s Gippsland Sports and Entertainment Park is being transformed into a major regional sports and events hub, thanks to the Regional Sports Infrastructure Fund.
The more than $45 million upgrade features a new grandstand pavilion featuring:
- four change rooms for players and dedicated change room for officials
- two canteens
- function room with a commercial kitchen
- media facilities
- seating for more than 1,200 spectators.
The pavilion will continue to be known as the Don Di Fabrizio Pavilion, in honour of the Football Australia Hall of Fame member whose name adorned the previous grandstand at the venue.
An additional change pavilion provides six player change rooms, officials change rooms, a servery and public amenities.
Outside, four fields of play have been upgraded, with three natural turf pitches and a new FIFA-accredited synthetic turf field. There’s also a new electronic scoreboard, and 500 lux LED lighting on the main pitch.
Rounding out the substantial upgrades, new landscaping with native plants and accessible pathways have been installed, with new perimeter fencing and two new car parks.
Artworks by local Gunnai artist Alice Pepper are featured throughout the venue, highlighting Gunaikurnai culture and heritage.
The Gippsland Sports and Entertainment Park is a focal point for the community and is home to the Falcons 2000, Gippsland United FC, FV Latrobe Valley, and Gippsland Referees.
In a further boost for the Latrobe Valley, Football Victoria has also announced that the Gippsland Sports and Entertainment Park will host the 2027 Country Championships on 3-5 July 2027, bringing together teams from across the state.
The project has been delivered by Development Victoria on behalf of Sport and Recreation Victoria, in partnership with Latrobe City Council. The upgrades were designed by Brand Architects, with Building Engineering completing the construction as head contractor.
These upgrades have brought economic benefits to the region, supporting 541 jobs and engaging 37 businesses during construction.
The Gippsland Sports and Entertainment Park is one of four projects in the Latrobe region and one of 18 projects across regional Victoria funded through the Regional Sports Infrastructure Program.
