Softball hits a home run with Sporting Club Grant double
Published: 6 November 2025The Sporting Club Grants Program is back and clubs can apply for multiple grants in one round, unlocking support for uniforms, equipment, and future-focused training and development.

The Sunbury Softball Association is one of many community sport organisations making the most of the opportunity to apply in more than one grant category.
With a powerful double win, they’ve secured over $4,800 to upskill nearly 60 volunteers in umpiring, scoring, first aid, mental health first aid and coaching – building a stronger, safer and more skilled club for the future.
And that’s not all – they also scored an additional $1,000 to kit out their junior boys’ and girls’ teams with brand-new uniform tops, helping every player feel confident and included on the field.
Erin Wilson from the Sunbury Softball Association Committee said, ‘This funding has helped remove financial barriers for families in our region, allowing every child to feel part of the team and play with confidence. It’s made softball more inclusive, more accessible, and more community-driven.’
Grants of up to $5,000 are available to support training and development for volunteers, coaches and officials – helping clubs build capability and confidence from the ground up. Another $5,000 is on offer to help clubs plan and deliver sport activities and events that bring communities together and boost participation.
For clubs looking to gear up, grants of up to $1,000 can be used to purchase uniforms and equipment, while $750 grants are available to help athletes travel for representative competition. This year’s program also places a strong focus on sustainability, with up to $1,500 available to strengthen club operations and ensure long-term viability.
Over the past decade, the Sporting Club Grants Program has injected more than $19.5 million in support to thousands of community sport and active recreation clubs across the state just like Sunbury Softball Association.
It’s backed by the Regional Community Sport Development Fund that is delivering infrastructure and other programs including the Regional Community Sport Infrastructure Fund to support more regional Victorians to become and remain physically active.
Applications for this round close 26 November 2025. For more information and to apply visit Sporting Club Grants Program.
