Lucas Central Park development and Miners Rest Primary School have been announced as the latest Regional Sports Infrastructure Program projects in the Ballarat region.

The Lucas Central Park development in Ballarat’s largest new suburb, will include an upgrade of the existing oval (bringing it to competition standards), new change rooms and amenities to support community sport all year round.

The Miners Rest Primary School project will include upgrades to the netball/basketball court, with a new surface and installation of sports lighting. This will enable the community to use the court outside of school hours.

A community recreation masterplan will also be developed at 136 Howe Street, Miners Rest. The Victorian Government and the City of Ballarat will invite contributions from the Miners Rest community to create a welcoming recreational space for the community.

The additional upgrades mean there are now five Regional Sports Infrastructure Program projects in Ballarat, including the Mars Stadium and Ballarat Regional Athletics Centre upgrade at the Ballarat Major Events Precinct, and the Ballarat Sports Events Centre (Selkirk Stadium).

These developments form part of the now 18 projects across regional Victoria that are part of the Regional Sports Infrastructure Program, making our communities even better places to live, work, stay and play.
