Melbourne Park’s huge 2025 something to celebrate

Melbourne Park remains the jewel in the crown of Victoria’s major event calendar in 2025, delivering a significant economic return for the state.
The Melbourne Park Economic and Social Benefit Analysis 2025 Study has been released, showing strong results across the precinct’s 6 venues.
Excluding the then record-breaking Australian Open, Melbourne Park attracted 2.7 million visitors to 455 events across the year.
More than 470,000 visitors travelled from interstate and overseas, while 359,000 came from regional Victoria. Together, they accounted for 1.2 million bed nights in Victorian hotels.
Melbourne Park generated $1.34 billion in Gross State Product and supported more than 13,500 jobs.
Visitors were drawn to a diverse line up of sport and entertainment, including performances by Kylie Minogue, Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa and Drake.
Live sport also attracted record crowds. Melbourne Victory and Melbourne City FC met in a record-breaking A-League Men’s Grand Final, while Melbourne Storm delivered a strong season and qualified for the Grand Final, with both events held at AAMI Park.
Rod Laver Arena hosted a broad mix of events, from Les Misérables to Monster Truck Mania and Disney on Ice.
The venue also welcomed some of the world’s leading basketball stars, with the New Orleans Pelicans travelling to Melbourne for the NBA x NBL Melbourne Series.
Major community and fan events also activated the broader precinct, including the F1 Melbourne Fan Festival, Run Melbourne and the AFL Grand Final Parade.
Melbourne Park’s contribution extended beyond the economy, generating $187.5 million in social value, including benefits linked to civic pride, health and wellbeing.
Since 2010, the Victorian Government has invested more than $1 billion in the precinct, strengthening Melbourne Park’s standing as one of the world’s leading sporting and entertainment destinations.
