Punt Road Oval Redevelopment reaches the halfway mark
Published: 27 May 2026Richmond’s iconic home at Punt Road is going through its biggest transformation ever and the ‘topping out’ of the new Jack Dyer Stand marks an important milestone.
A new era at Tigerland is closer with the Punt Road Oval Redevelopment reaching the halfway point as progress on the new stand continues at pace.
The club marked the ‘topping out’ of the new Jack Dyer Stand which also aligns to project reaching 50% completion.
Topping out refers to construction reaching its highest point, a major milestone for the project which began construction in June last year.

The redevelopment, made possible by a $20 million investment from the Victorian Government, will overhaul the iconic venue.
It will soon feature upgrades benefiting players, staff and supporters across the club’s AFL and AFLW teams.
A new Jack Dyer Stand which will include AFL/AFLW changerooms, player spaces, recovery facilities and strength and conditioning areas. This will be alongside an underground car park and a landscaped terrace.
An oval expansion and oval realignment will ensure Punt Road Oval can continue to host AFLW matches and showcase elite women’s Australian rules football.
The wider community will benefit with the Punt Road Oval facilities home to community partner organisations including the Korin Gamadji Institute, Bachar Houli Foundation and Melbourne Indigenous Transition School.
Activities at the club have continued throughout the build for the men’s and women’s teams.
Investment in Punt Road Oval is part of the Victorian Government’s commitment to level the playing field by funding infrastructure for women and girls' sport.
It also adds to the over $150 million which has been invested to help upgrade Australian Football facilities benefitting AFLW players across the state.
This had helped provide elite facilities for all 10 Victorian clubs which also benefit the wider community.
Additional support for the project has come from the Australian Government, Australian Football League and Richmond Football Club.
Works are expected to be completed in 2027.
