The new campaign, Racism Doesn’t Belong In Our Game, has launched. It includes individuals sharing their stories to highlight the impact racism has on people in community sport.

Featuring 7 stories from Victorians involved in sport and recreation from an AFL umpire in local sport, to former professional players and a club president, each person has bravely come forward to tell their story.

The campaign was launched at the Western Bulldogs Community Foundation. It is designed to increase Victorians’ awareness of racism in community sport and its impact on individuals affected by racism.

A 2025 Monash University report on Enhancing the Capacity of Victorian Community Sport to Tackle Racism found that 56% of people surveyed experience and witness racism.

This campaign encourages people to:

  • learn more about racism in sport
  • share campaign resources with their clubs
  • use available reporting pathways if racism occurs.

The campaign is supported by the Victorian Government and delivered by the Centre for Multicultural Youth and CMSport, in partnership with the Victorian Aboriginal Community Services Association Ltd (VACSAL) and seven leading sporting bodies:

  • AFL Victoria
  • Cricket Victoria
  • Football Victoria
  • Basketball Victoria
  • Netball Victoria
  • NRL Victoria
  • Tennis Victoria.

The campaign will involve a series of roadshows throughout the second half of 2026 in metropolitan and regional Victoria.

Learn more and get involved by sharing the Racism Doesn’t Belong In Our Game campaign materials and videos.
