Pumped! New Zone Youth Space opens in Altona North
Published: 9 July 2026Young people have new dedicated active recreation facilities in the heart of Altona North with the completion of a new pump track, basketball half court and more, thanks to support from our Local Sports Infrastructure Fund.

With more families moving into the area, there’s growing demand for active recreation facilities that cater for more young people looking to have some outdoor fun and get active.
The new Zone Youth Space at Paisley Park comes complete with an asphalt pump track, free-throw basketball court, youth hang out area, and adjacent seating and lighting, transforming the space into a fun and functional youth hub.

Designed in consultation with young residents, it provides a safe and welcoming area for young people to get together, socialise and develop their skills.
Hobsons Bay City Council provided more than $415,000 towards the project, with $250,000 also coming from our Local Sports Infrastructure Fund, which is currently open for applications until 28 July.
Investments like these are all about creating jobs, stimulating local economies, and improving the health, wellbeing, and social outcomes for Victorian communities.
