Game on - Bundha Sports Centre officially opens
Published: 23 February 2026It’s ‘game on’ at the Bundha Sports Centre, inner north Melbourne’s newest indoor sport and recreation venue at Fitzroy Gasworks.

The Bundha Sports Centre is now officially open to the public, with the community now able to access the centre’s sport and community spaces for a range of sport, recreation and fitness activities.
With 4 courts for competition-level basketball, netball, and volleyball; a futsal pitch; gymnasium and program spaces; large café and lounge area; community facilities; change rooms; and outdoor gardens, the sports centre provides much-needed community sports facilities for Melbourne's inner north.
The Centre’s integration with Wurun Senior Campus’ enables shared use of school courts to increase facility capacity outside of school hours.
The facility provides an ideal base for local basketball, futsal, volleyball, dodgeball, handball, netball and more to host training, development programs and games under the one roof.
New venue operator Clublinks will welcome a number of diverse community sporting organisations including Collingwood Basketball Association, Volleyball Victoria, Heights Netball Club and Futsal 4 Life, who will use the new venue from February 2026.
The 1000 sq/m gym is now fully equipped and ready to welcome new members. The gym is fitted out with state-of-the-art equipment and offers a range of fitness classes including reformer pilates, yoga, spin and HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training).
The Bundha Sports Centre was gifted its official name by Aunty Gail Smith and supported by Aunty Di Kerr, Aunty Julieanne Axford and the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation.
The name ‘Bundha’ means ‘unity’ and was chosen to reflect how this innovative multi-purpose vertical venue will unite the local community by supporting sports clubs and encouraging more people to get active.
The Victorian Government has invested $49.5 million in the project, alongside a $5 million contribution from Yarra City Council.
The stadium forms part of government’s vision for the Fitzroy Gasworks Precinct to create a new neighbourhood that will be home for more than a thousand families with easy access to bike trails, public transport, schools, sports and employment.
