Have your say on the future of the mighty MCG
Published: 14 August 2026Victorians are invited to have their say on the future of the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground, with public consultation now open as part of the MCG Redevelopment Business Case.
The public is being called on to visit Engage Victoria and share their views, which will help shape the final business case.
The survey will help identify what matters most to MCG users and fans. This will help inform planning for the future of the stadium.
Alongside the important community feedback, the business case will assess the current state of the MCG.
This will include the ageing Shane Warne Stand, to ensure the MCG continues to meet the needs of athletes, fans and visitors.

The MCG is the beating heart of Melbourne and feedback from those who love and use the precinct regularly is important to shape the current business plan and future planning considerations.

Announced in September last year, the business case is being supported by:
- Architectus
- Foster + Partners
- MANICA, working alongside AECOM.
They will provide advice on a number of topics including how a new stand could be constructed.
This work is part of early planning, and no decisions have been made about any future redevelopment of the venue.
Community feedback will help shape ideas for the future of one of Victoria’s most significant venues.
A 2024 study found the stadium attracted more than 4 million attendees across 69 major events and brought more than 620,000 visitors to Victoria.
It also generated $720 million for the state’s economy and supported 7,500 full-time equivalent jobs.
The survey is open until Sunday 13 September.
