Exciting new chapter for Power House rugby
Published: 11 August 2026The dreams of Power House Rugby Union Football Club have become reality with construction of the Stan Bisset Pavilion in Albert Park now complete.
Power House excitedly unveiled its new pavilion at its final home game of the season when they took on Melbourne University.
The historic club, founded in 1933, had called the previous pit building home since 2011, playing matches on the adjacent Noel Clarke Field.
The club has long sought its own pavilion and this facility is a key community benefit of the ongoing Albert Park Pit Building Redevelopment.
Club President Josh Blanksby said the new pavilion marks a new era for the club.
'Opening the pavilion was a pretty momentous occasion. It will be the home for 250 registered men and women across our 6 teams.
'It’s really a game changer for our club.'

The Stan Bisset Pavilion means everything to our club. The Power House Rugby Club has been situated in Albert Park since 1933, and we've never had our own clubrooms.

Opening the pavilion on Saturday was a pretty momentous occasion, and it'll be home for 250 registered men and women across our six teams.
A lot of people commented to me on the weekend about how great the viewing platform was to be able to watch the games, and then afterwards, which is a real key part of sport and community, to have so many people staying back; we had food on for people and people really enjoyed each other's company.

Importantly, it's a facility that allows both our teams to have plenty of room for our visiting teams to be welcomed here and for people to enjoy rugby.
It's really a game changer for our club.

The pavilion has been named after former club captain and premiership player, Stan Bisset. He helped the club claim its inaugural title in 1938 before serving in the Australian Army during the Second World War. He fought on the Kokoda Trail and was later awarded the Military Cross.
The Bisset family was present on the day to witness the celebration.
Built by Kinglake-based Modular by SHAPE, the pavilion is a modular design. This means the majority of construction took place off site before being installed at Albert Park. This process helped reduced disruption and ensure a faster build time
Alongside Power House, Middle Park Football Club and South Melbourne Women’s Football Club were also co-tenants of the old pit building. Both clubs have moved into their own facilities which were completed in May.
The Victorian Government consulted all three clubs and Parks Victoria to ensure the facilities meet their needs.
Originally built in 1995, the pit building is being replaced to ensure it can meet the year-round demands of community sport. It will provide a multi-purpose venue for the community, and deliver a world-class grand prix.
The new indoor sports centre will include seven indoor sport courts two more than were previously on site. These will feature higher ceilings to cater for more sports.
This will be alongside improved clubrooms meaning local sport can benefit from the build for years to come.
