Free AFL action for Victorian kids in Round 24

Published: 4 August 2026

Footy fans aged 14 and under can experience the final thrilling round of the 2026 AFL Premiership Season for free thanks to the Victorian Government.

The Kids Go Free Initiative in Victoria is returning for another year, delivering cost-of-living relief for thousands of Victorian families.

AFL Chief Operating Officer joins young footy fans to announce Kids Go Free in Victoria.

Between Thursday 20 August and Sunday 23 August, Round 24 matches will finalise the ladder position and lock in who plays off in the inaugural Wildcard Finals.

The round includes 6 blockbuster matches in Melbourne and Geelong.

All games will impact the finals and feature 8 Victorians teams.

This means footy fans across the state can watch their team as a family.

The games on the fixture are:

  • St Kilda vs Gold Coast at Marvel Stadium – Thursday 20 August
  • Collingwood vs Brisbane Lions at the MCG – Friday 21 August
  • Carlton vs Fremantle at Marvel Stadium – Saturday 22 August
  • Melbourne vs Western Bulldogs at the MCG – Saturday 22 August
  • Geelong vs Richmond at GMHBA Stadium – Saturday 22 August
  • Essendon vs Port Adelaide at Marvel Stadium – Sunday 23 August.

Kids Go Free in Victoria has quickly become a popular weekend on the footy calendar with families snapping up free tickets for kids.

Last year saw more than 5,000 tickets redeemed for matches in Melbourne and Geelong. This made up over one third of general admission tickets for the round.

The initiative is part of the Victorian Government’s AFL Events Package. This also includes support for the 2026 AFL Grand Final Parade and Grand Final Footy Fest.

Kids Go Free in Victoria tickets are available in nominated ticketing categories for kids aged 14 years and under.

To redeem, visit the AFL website.
