Chipping in for all abilities golf

Published: 3 December 2025

Thanks to our Regional All Abilities Participation Grants, the Cohuna Golf Club has been able to tee up some game changing coaching programs for kids of all abilities.

A $9,000 boost from the program has chipped in for 2 qualified professional golfers from the neighbouring Barham Golf Club to help drive Cohuna’s new Golf Development for All Abilities initiative.

The initiative recently rolled out customised one on one and group lessons, guiding all abilities junior players through the basics of golf from putting to swing techniques in a beautiful setting with a calming influence.

Club board member Geoff Hall explains, ‘The funding has helped us deliver professional coaching sessions for adults and excited children of all abilities and gives our small club new hope for the future.’

‘It was particularly gratifying to observe grateful parents relaxing as they watched and encouraged their children to get involved.’

The Regional All Abilities Participation Grants are part of the new $40 million All Abilities Sport Fund that is removing barriers for people with disability to get involved in sport and recreation across regional Victoria.

Increasing opportunities for more Victorians to participate in sport and active recreation is a key objective of the Active Victoria 2022-2026 – a strategic framework for sport and active recreation in Victoria.

Successful recipients of round 2 of the Regional All Abilities Participation Grants will be announced in early 2026.

A third round will take place in 2026-27, for more information on the grants and a full list of recipients visit Regional All Abilities Participation Grants.
