Bendigo Bowls and Croquet Clubs upgrades swing into action
Published: 5 December 2025The much-anticipated upgrades to Bendigo’s bowls and croquet clubs have reached a major milestone, with the Victorian Government announcing the head contractor for the region’s latest sporting project.
The City of Greater Bendigo is partnering with the Victorian Government on the project, and has appointed Bendigo-based firm Searle Bros as the head contractor to lead the redevelopment.
Upgrades at the clubs include a refurbishment of 4 bowls greens, including 2 new synthetic surfaces and 2 compliant croquet greens.
Accessibility and circulation improvements are also a feature of the project, alongside upgrades to the venue’s iconic bowls clubhouse. The redevelopment is expected to be completed in late 2026.
With over 90 years in the construction industry, Searle Bros have extensive experience delivering projects across Victoria including the Bendigo Tramways Expansion and Larni Garingilang at the Bendigo Botanic Gardens. Searle Bros will engage with local suppliers and sub-contractors to create local jobs to benefit Loddon Mallee.
The venue has been home to the Bendigo Bowls Club and the Bendigo Croquet Club for over 100 years. These upgrades will create opportunities for more lawn bowls and croquet events.
The redevelopment is one of 16 projects across regional Victoria that are part of the Regional Sports Infrastructure Program, making our communities even better places to live, work, stay and play.
