Gippsland Sports and Entertainment Park sod turn
Published: 27 June 2025Construction is now underway on upgrades to one of Latrobe Valley’s largest sports facilities.
The upgraded Gippsland Sports and Entertainment Park will deliver new buildings and spaces giving the community greater access to community sport, made possible through the Victorian Government’s Regional Sports Infrastructure Program.

Head contractor Building Engineering is leading construction at the site, which will include a new grandstand pavilion with change rooms and amenities, redeveloped and upgraded pitches with new lighting and player facilities, a new change facility and new car parking.
As well as being one of the region’s major outdoor events venues, the park will continue to be the home of some beloved local football organisations including Falcons 2000, Gippsland United FC, Latrobe Valley Soccer League and Gippsland Referees.
The old grandstand at the site will be demolished to make way for the new grandstand pavilion, which will continue to bear the name of Don Di Fabrizio, recognising the significance of his contribution to the community.
Mr Di Fabrizio was a prominent and valued member of the community who was president of the Morwell Falcons Soccer Club from 1969 to 1994.
These upgrades will help increase sports participation and improve the region’s capacity to host events, supporting local businesses and creating employment opportunities during the project’s delivery.
The Gippsland Sports and Entertainment Park upgrades are expected to be completed in late 2026.
The Gippsland Sports and Entertainment Park is one of four projects in the Latrobe Valley region and one of 16 projects across regional Victoria that are part of the Regional Sports Infrastructure Program, making our communities even better places to live, work, stay and play.
