Roaring upgrades in the heart of Tigerland
Published: 15 July 2025Works begin on delivering the new Jack Dyer Stand at the Richmond Tigers’ home at Punt Road Oval.
Punt Road Oval will be transformed through a redevelopment that will deliver an elite training and administration facility built within a brand-new Jack Dyer Stand – thanks to the Victorian Government.
Punt Road Oval has been the spiritual home of the Tigers since 1885. The latest redevelopment is made possible by a $20 million Victorian Government investment, with additional support coming from the Australian Government, AFL and Richmond Football Club.

Tigers’ CEO Shane Dunne said the works were already underway and are expected to be completed in 2027.
We are incredibly grateful the Victorian Government shares our vision for this iconic site and our commitment to re-establish Punt Road Oval as a community asset and state-of-the-art facility for men’s and women’s sport.

The new Jack Dyer Stand will include:
- new AFL/AFLW changerooms
- player spaces
- recovery facilities and strength and conditioning areas
- an underground car park
- a landscape terrace.
It will also see an oval expansion and realignment to meet AFLW standards, including new lighting.

The wider community will also benefit from the redevelopment with upgraded facilities planned for Richmond’s community partner organisations including the Korin Garmadji Institute, Bachar Houli Foundation and Melbourne Indigenous Transition School.
Fresh off a finals appearance last season, the new facilities will be a boon for Richmond’s AFLW team who are looking to improve on their seventh-place finish.
‘It’s a very exciting time for our Club and again, we thank the Victorian Government for their critical support along with the Federal Government, the AFL and the generous contributions of major supporters and fans,’ Mr Dunne said.
The latest investment is part of the Victorian Government’s commitment to level the playing field by funding infrastructure for women and girls sport.
Over $100 million has been invested to help upgrade Australian football facilities for women across the state, providing elite facilities for all 10 Victorian clubs which also benefit the wider community.
