Bigger and better Frankston Stadium on the way

Published: 21 July 2025

Indoor sport in Frankston is set to be bigger and better than ever with more opportunities to participate in gymnastics, basketball, badminton, volleyball and Futsal thanks to the redevelopment of Frankston Stadium.

Frankston Stadium render entrance

Participation in basketball and gymnastics in Frankston is booming with over 10,000 members at the Frankston District Basketball Association and the Bayside Gymnastics Club alone, looking forward to their new home that can cater for the region’s growing demand.

This project will take the existing Frankston Stadium to another level and provide a real home advantage for indoor sports.

Once complete, the new two-storey stadium will feature ten indoor basketball courts including two multi-sport courts marked for badminton, volleyball and futsal.

Four player change rooms and two referee change rooms, all suitable for women and girls, multi-purpose spaces, first aid room, storage, café, reception and tournament office are also on the way.

The second floor will include function rooms as well as kitchen, administration offices and amenities.

The Bayside Gymnastics Club, currently based in a building at Monterey Secondary College, will have a new home with a dedicated gymnastics hall in the stadium.

It will come complete with a foam pit, tumble track, and trampoline pit to cater for local programs and stage competitions.

The new venue will provide a great new base for thousands of local basketballers, gymnasts and other indoor sport participants, and build on the almost 4,000 women and girls who already participate in basketball and gymnastics in Frankston.

Schools and community groups in the region will also benefit from access to the redeveloped stadium, especially during the day.

The stadium is expected to support significant new employment opportunities during construction and operation, with completion expected in mid-2027.

The Victorian Government is tipping in $15 million, the Australian Government $15 million and Frankston City Council $30 million into the redevelopment.

Investments like these are all about creating jobs, stimulating local economies, and improving the health, wellbeing, and social outcomes for Victorian communities.
