Eddie Betts’ new pocket at Melbourne Park

Published: 18 July 2025

After lighting up the footy field, Eddie Betts is having an even greater impact off the field with a new base in John Cain Arena.

He wowed football fans across his 350-game AFL career, but Indigenous superstar Eddie Betts’ legacy is stretching far beyond the field.

The Eddie Betts Foundation was created by Eddie and his partner Anna Scullie in 2023, and they’ve now made the move to Melbourne Park.

Eddie Betts with his partner Anna Scullie, the founders of the Eddie Betts Foundation.

The Foundation is an Aboriginal-led not-for-profit organisation with a focus on improving learning and employment opportunities for young First Nations people, and runs programs covering football, education and mentoring.

Throughout its work, the Foundation maintains a focus on cultural respect while helping remove barriers for Indigenous youth.

Betts recently announced the move of his Foundation to John Cain Arena, meaning a home in the heart of Melbourne’s iconic sports and entertainment precinct. The Foundation had always been based out of the Betts’ home, meaning the offices inside Melbourne Park will provide a central location for its important work. This will help young Indigenous Victorians find success across all walks of life while promoting cultural pride.

Since retiring from football in 2021, Betts has remained a beloved figure in Victoria in football and beyond, including support Indigenous youth across Victoria.

The partnership is a strong sign of Melbourne Park’s commitment in helping advance reconciliation with First Nations people and supports its delivery of reconciliation activities.

The initial  lease is for 2-years with the option of an extension in 2027.
