The local economy will also benefit as Rebuild Gippsland will lead onsite works, sourcing materials from local businesses, supporting local industries and creating jobs. Additionally, Rockys Solar and Electrical in Sale will install solar panels and battery storage system to reduce energy usage and operational costs.

Gippsland Regional Indoor Sports Stadium is home to several local sports clubs, including the Traralgon Amateur Basketball Association, Gippsland United Basketball and Latrobe Valley Badminton Association.

The venue already boasts a world-class show court with 3,000 spectator seats and is one of Basketball Victoria’s high-performance hubs. These upgrades will attract more elite sporting events to the region including NBL, WNBL, Super Netball games and high-level badminton tournaments.

The upgrades to the Gippsland Regional Indoor Sports Stadium represent a significant investment in the region’s sporting future and are an exciting step forward for Gippsland.

Works at the stadium are due to be completed in mid-2026.

The Gippsland Regional Indoor Sports Stadium is one of 4 Regional Sports Infrastructure Program projects in the Latrobe Valley region, including the Morwell Gun Club, Gippsland Sports and Entertainment Park and Ted Summerton Reserve.
