It’s tip off time at Pinks
Published: 7 August 2025Indoor sport is back big time at Pinks Reserve with the completion of the Kilsyth Sports Centre upgrades, marking the end of all the recent works at the popular sporting precinct.

With over 10,000 participants, the Centre is a major hub for all things indoor sport and the additional court, change room facility and other upgrades provide a new home court advantage for Kilsyth Basketball, one of the largest basketball associations in Australia.
CEO of Kilsyth Basketball William van Poppel said, 'The extra court means we can eliminate byes and create more opportunity for people to play basketball – girls, boys, men and women.'
'We also have our wheelchair competition. Expanding our wheelchair program is one of our objectives and more courts means we’ll be able to do that.'
Mountain District Badminton and Croydon and Districts Table Tennis will also benefit from the new upgrades with nearby schools and community groups also able to use the new indoor facilities for social play and events.
The Centre upgrades complement other recently completed works at Pinks Reserve including the new Gary Tait pavilion, upgraded lighting on the softball field and a new softball batting cage, and a new roof structure over four of the reserve’s outdoor netball courts.

These provide the perfect base for the Lilydale and Yarra Valley Netball Association, Kilsyth Football and Cricket Clubs and other local sports.
The Victorian Government tipped in $10.5 million, with Yarra Ranges Shire Council and local sports clubs also providing significant contributions towards all the Pinks Reserve and Kilsyth Sports Centre redevelopments.
From stadium transformations to pavilion upgrades, investments like these provide high-quality and accessible places for Victorians to reap the benefits of sport and active recreation participation.
The recent release of the Community Sports Infrastructure 2024 Outcomes Statement – a Sport and Recreation Victoria report, also highlights the positive impacts of government-funded projects like these.
In the last 2 years alone more than 330 funded facilities, subject of the statement, have increased participation by almost 43% or over 70,200 new participants, including a 19% increase in girls playing sport.
