The Korumburra-Bena ‘Giants’ Football Netball Club are net, set, go for season 2025 thanks to the completion of brand new female friendly change rooms at its Showgrounds home.

The new building features modern changerooms for players and umpires, amenities, and first aid room for netball, along with accessible public toilets.

Upgrades also included a female friendly revamp of the club’s football change rooms to accommodate the growing numbers of women and girls signing up to play Australian rules.

The new spaces will provide the perfect base for the over 540 players that make up the Giant’s football and netball teams to build on their numbers, training, competitions and development programs at the ground.

Korumburra - Bena FNC Grants Officer Nadine Smith said, ‘Fielding a girl’s footy side in 2017 sparked the idea of new facilities. It’s fantastic to see that vison now come true. We now have the modern space we need to grow.'

South Gippsland Shire Council provided a more than $409,000 contribution, the Federal Government $710,000, and the club $100,000, with $800,000 kicked in from our Local Sports Infrastructure Fund towards the project.

Through programs like our Regional Community Sports Infrastructure Fund we’re also ramping up our investment in sport and active recreation infrastructure in regional centres and rural towns across the state.

From court reconstructions to pavilion upgrades, investments like these provide high-quality and accessible places for Victorians to reap the benefits of sport and active recreation participation.
