The All Stars claimed the title at the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFDTA) championships in Philadelphia after rolling 287 to 65 Denver's Mile High Club in the semi- then defeating defending champions Portland's Rose City Roller's 180 -101 in the final.

"It feels amazing. We've worked so hard for this," said team member Scarlet Love (known in roller derby as Bicepsual).

"We've been close in the last two years so it just feels incredible and surreal," she said.

Flat track roller derby is a full contact sport where each team's 'jammer' tries to complete laps around their opponents.

“Back in Victoria, Melbourne and right around Australia, we are all incredibly proud of the efforts of the team and the league, the continual dedication, constant focus, multiple yearly overseas trips, fundraising efforts which are all needed to help compete internationally against the world’s best roller derby teams,” Gloria Hawken CEO, Skate Victoria.

The Victorian Government is also proud supporter of skate sports like roller derby.

Through associations like Skate Victoria we’ve invested in a range of initiatives from training referees to good governance programs helping the next generation of world beaters take their performance on and off the track to the next level.

The All-Stars will next head to Manchester to compete in the Roller Derby World Cup in February.
