The Victorian Government is calling on local sporting organisations to help shape a new youth strategy for the state.
We are committed to creating a Victoria where all young people are healthy, safe and empowered to contribute to the issues that affect them. We want every single young person to have equitable access to opportunities and support to participate fully in the social, economic and civic life of our state.
The strategy is an opportunity for young people and those who work with them to direct the government’s work in the youth space, now and into the future.
As many voices as possible are being sought to create real, meaningful change.
Public consultation is open until Monday 14 December.
How sporting organisations and young people can contribute
You can have a say on the new strategy by:
- completing a short survey
- registering to attend an interactive online forum
- making a written submission
HERO online creative activity – another way for young people to contribute
This activity involves young people sharing a short story about their hero online, including their hero’s superpower and how they would change Victoria for the better.
The aim is to create a picture of Victoria’s ultimate team of heroes, ready to solve issues and help Victoria to be a place that reflects the vision, hopes and aspirations of its young people.
Victoria’s HERO team will be visualised through a series of illustrations produced by an emerging Victorian artist.
Each young storyteller who makes a contribution to HERO can opt to receive a copy of the illustrated HERO team, as a memento of their role in shaping the youth strategy.
The new young strategy will be launched in mid to late 2021.
