Victorian cricket and football seasons agreement for 2025-2028
Published: 22 May 2025A new agreement outlining season dates and ground access from 1 April 2025 to 31 March 2028 has been signed by Cricket Victoria and AFL Victoria.
Coordinated by Sport and Recreation Victoria and signed by the Minister for Community Sport, this agreement gives more certainty over winter and summer season dates in relation to facility access and the transition between seasons, which is critical to hundreds of clubs across Victoria.
Under the agreement, the winter Australian rules season will run from 1 April to 30 September each year with the summer cricket season scheduled from 1 October to 31 March.
The broad principle of the agreement is that cricket clubs are afforded priority use rights of shared facilities during the traditional summer season (October to March) and community Australian rules football clubs have priority access to shared facilities during the traditional winter season (April to September).
The dates provide a greater amount of certainty for the thousands of clubs, players, coaches, volunteers and parents of both sports.
Specific enquiries regarding facility access should be made directly to your local Council or league/association representative.
