Grants for sporting clubs to reach greater heights
Published: 20 February 2025Grassroots sporting clubs can reach greater heights thanks a new round of Sporting Club Grants now open to help break down participation barriers and get more people involved in community sport and recreation.
Grants of up to $5,000 are available for clubs to improve the skills and knowledge of volunteers, coaches and officials. Grants of up to $4,000 are also available for clubs to plan and deliver a new sport or active recreation program.
Clubs can also apply for grants of up to $1,000 to purchase uniforms and equipment, and $750 grants are available to help athletes travel for representative training and competition.
Previous recipients include the Edinburgh Cricket Club who scored over $4,000 to support 40 women to develop the skills and confidence to understand the sport and become actively involved in cricket as a coach, training assistant, umpire or player.
More than $3,000 is helping the Woolamai Beach Surf Lifesaving Club to equip volunteers including coaches, patrol and committee members in youth mental health first-aid, to help recognise and respond to mental health issues in their communities.
The Sporting Club Grants Program has injected almost $18.4 million in support to thousands of community sport and active recreation clubs across the state over the past decade.
It’s backed by the Regional Community Sport Development Fund that is delivering infrastructure and other programs including the Regional Community Sport Infrastructure Fund to support more regional Victorians to become and remain physically active.
These initiatives are part of our commitment to make community sport and recreation more inclusive and accessible, stimulate local economies, build sustainable sport and recreation volunteer opportunities and increase participation.
