Mildura’s new sporting precinct complete
Published: 24 May 2024Mildura’s new sporting precinct is now complete and ready to host more national sporting competitions and events, and showcase local talent.
The precinct now features a second oval with lighting, 4 indoor squash courts, four outdoor beach volleyball courts and a cricket training facility – bringing players, fans and the local community together in the one precinct.
New change rooms, car parking and landscaping add to the state-of-the-art precinct which has already become a hub of sports activity in Mildura.
The Precinct already featured a competition oval with LED lighting, 4 netball courts, change rooms and amenities and a 6 court indoor multi-sport stadium with a show court.
The precinct can accommodate even more community sport, along with state and national sports carnivals and major sporting competitions including AFLW, AFL, WBBL, BBL, WNBL and NBL preseason and season fixtures.
The Mildura Sporting Precinct was made possible by a $13.75 million investment from the Victorian Government. It was delivered by Mildura Rural City Council in collaboration with the Federal Government, Cricket Australia, Cricket Victoria, Australian Football League, Sunraysia Volleyball, and other local sporting groups.
The Victorian Budget 2024/25 is investing more than $23 million to provide new and improved community sports infrastructure and initiatives that boost participation and inclusion in local sports clubs.
From playground redevelopments to new sporting hubs, investments like these provide high-quality and accessible places for Victorians to reap the benefits of sport and active recreation.
These projects are all about creating jobs, stimulating local economies, and improving the health, wellbeing, and social outcomes for Victorian communities.
