Grants of up to $1000 are available to clubs across Victoria to buy new team uniforms or equipment including first aid equipment
In addition, grants of up to $2000 for clubs and $5000 for leagues/associations are also available to expand the skills of coaches and officials.
Clubs can also apply for up to $5000 for initiatives that strengthen their operations and sustainability.
Additionally, clubs can apply for funds to increase participation for Aboriginal Victorians or that will improve the skills of the Aboriginal community/volunteers of an organisation targeting increasing participation in sport and active recreation for Aboriginal Victorians.
In 2019, the Wangaratta Pony Club received funding through the Sporting Club Grants Program for new uniforms.
The grant allowed the club to get new sun smart uniforms. Club representative Cherie Gottschling said the new uniforms gave members a sense of pride and belonging to the club and gave the club an invigorated new identity.
Since 2015 the Sporting Club Grants Program has kicked in over $4.9 million, to help 3500 successful applicants from over 60 different sport and recreation organisations opportunities across the state.
The Sporting Club Grants Program is part of the Victorian Government’s commitment to make sport more accessible and inclusive, increase local participation, stimulate local economies, and build sustainable sport and recreation and volunteer opportunities.
