Over 100 netball teams and more than 1100 players use the courts and pavilion, and the upgrades were made possible through more than $4 million Victorian Government package.
The old asphalt courts have been replaced with Netball Victoria compliant competition courts featuring a Rebound Ace surface, new line marking, shelters for teams and seating for spectators.
The upgraded pavilion now features a new multipurpose social room and office, kitchen/canteen, unisex change areas for umpires and players and a storage and car park expansion.
The venue will provide the perfect base for the premier netball association in the region and the association’s eight clubs to build on their memberships and inspire the next home-grown champions such as Vixens co-captain Kate Maloney.
The Victorian Government investment in the project includes more than $1.96 million from the Community Sports Infrastructure Stimulus Program for the court upgrades and $2.5 million from the Growing Suburbs Fund for the pavilion redevelopment.
There are also court lighting upgrades underway made possible by a more than $1.47 million investment from the Victorian Government’s Community Sports Infrastructure Stimulus Program and expected to be complete in June 2022.
Investments like these are all about creating jobs, stimulating local economies and improving the health, wellbeing, and social outcomes for Victorian communities.
Other contributors to the project included Nillumbik Force Netball Association and Nillumbik Shire Council.
