Change Our Game Community Activation Grants are designed to support community sport and active recreation organisations to deliver events and forums that celebrate the role of women and girls and further gender equality at the local level.
It’s recognised that sport is a major driver in creating cultural and social change. Programs such as the Change Our Game Community Activation Grants provide ongoing opportunities and level the playing field for women and girls across all levels.
President of the Port Fairy Netball Association, Nicole Dwyer was thrilled when told of the success of their application.
“Our program is about engaging women and girls who, due to a range of circumstances, have not had an opportunity to get involved in team sports."
“In the past we have relied heavily on the financial contribution of individuals within our club to get the program up and running, this grant will ensure we have the adequate support and a resource to engage more people and ensure the program is sustainable.”
The application process involved community sporting organisations outlining how they would empower their local community, celebrate achievements of women and girls, and support cultural change toward gender equality.
The grants are part of the broader Victorian Government’s $241.6 million commitment to level the playing field for women and girls in sport and recreation.
Details on Round 2 of the Change Our Game Community Activation Grants will be released in the coming weeks.
