At Ringwood’s Jubilee Park, a new indoor cricket training centre called Maroondah Edge is set to bowl over regional cricket thanks to a $3.08 million investment from the Victorian Government.
Complete with five-wickets, viewing platform, multipurpose room and office space, the venue will be a strong new home base for the Ringwood Cricket Club as well as host player development programs and support grassroots cricket pathways in Melbourne’s outer east.
At East Ringwood Reserve, the East Ringwood Kangaroos Cricket and Football Clubs can now also enjoy playing under improved oval lighting, made possible by an investment of $480,000 from the Victorian Government.
Both projects were in partnership with the Maroondah City Council.
The Victorian Budget 2023/24 is providing more than $213 million to deliver and improve community sports infrastructure and support initiatives that boost participation and inclusion in local sports clubs and organisations.
This takes the Government’s investment into community sport and active recreation infrastructure to more than $1.9 billion since 2014.
From pavilion redevelopments to pitch upgrades, investments like these are all about creating jobs, stimulating local economies, and improving the health, wellbeing, and social outcomes for Victorian communities.
