Designed to support organisations to increase their capacity and meet the needs of women and girls within their workforce, the grants will ensure more women and girls are given opportunities to take on leadership roles such as coaches, officials, team managers, administrators and board members across all levels of sport and recreation.
General Manager – Inclusion and Strategy at Basketball Victoria, Karen Pearce was delighted with the announcement.
“This funding will support Basketball Victoria to develop and enhance a range of workplace initiatives designed to support female basketball administrators.”
“As industry leaders, we must ensure a commitment to changing the culture of our workforce to ensure strong female leaders are identified, supported and empowered. This funding will allow us to initiate and actively promote change and provide females from within our sport with opportunities to fulfil leadership positions and pave the way for the next generation to follow.”
In total, over $650,000 in grants have been awarded in this round of funding, further reinforcing the Victorian Government’s push to drive cultural change and create equal opportunity for women to take on leadership positions across the wider sport and active recreation industry.
The grants are part of the broader Victorian Government’s $241.6 million commitment to level the playing field for women and girls and community sport and recreation in Victoria.
