More than $230,400 is to be invested into new lighting at Epsom Huntly Recreation Reserve and Chewton Soldiers Memorial Park. This includes $60,000 at Epsom and $170,400 for Chewton.

The two projects form part of the 25 initiatives currently being implemented across the state, sharing in more than $5 million dollars of investment.

With more than 350,000 participants state-wide and millions of fans tuning in to the recent World Cup, soccer is a sport that's booming, especially amongst women and girls.

The new lighting installation will provide both clubs with the opportunity to further utilise their pitches for training and competition, day and night.

That’s great news for Goldfields FC, the only club in the Mount Alexander Shire who are keen to boost their Mini Roos and female team members.

The new lighting on pitch four at Epsom Huntly will also allow the Bendigo Amateur Soccer League to program the venue for more twilight development as well as additional  local and regional competitions.

The World Game Facilities Fund is helping local football clubs upgrade existing facilities or build new ones across metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria.

The funding is part of the Victorian Government’s strong commitment to sports and active recreation, and to encourage all Victorians to get out there and get active.

We’re investing almost half a billion dollars in our 2018/19 Budget to ensure sport and active recreation goes from strength to strength.
