Sport and Recreation Victoria partners with a number of organisations and peak bodies to develop sport and recreation in Victoria on a state wide or regional basis to increase participation, equity, diversity and inclusiveness.
These organisations are categorised into the following groups:
Recognised State Sporting Associations which are responsible for the development of their sport within Victoria, from community participation to high performance level.
Peak and State Sport and Recreation Bodies that represent a specific interest, particular activity, occupation or population group within the sport and recreation sector at the state or national level.
Regional Sports Assemblies provide support to sport and recreation groups within their regional catchment, in regional Victoria. Support services include direct support and advice to clubs, supporting State and National projects and building networks and partnerships.
Victorian Regional Academies of Sport assist emerging elite athletes from regional Victoria through programs that provide access to coaching and education and enhance their access to pathways to State and National representation.
Victorian Institute of Sport assists the development of Victoria’s best athletes and provides support for athletes from a range of individual sports, National Training Centre programs, and State Sporting Association partnership programs. It supports the athletes with advanced and specialised coaching, sport science and sport medicine services, career and education advice and training and competition support.
Local Governments across Victoria also play a key role in supporting community sport and providing sport and recreation facilities and services. This support includes facilitating a range of business development resources, providing funding to clubs and individuals, building and maintaining sports related infrastructure (through partnership with Sport and Recreation Victoria to provide community sport and recreation facilities), and sponsoring the hosting of local sports events. Contact details for local government are provided on the Local Government Victoria website.
