Thanks to the grant, Matias was able to cover his travel and accommodation costs to the Open in Sydney.
This benchmarking opportunity for players is vital in assessing their future career direction within the sport.
It’s been a big year for Matias with a win at the Australian Amateur Championship in January 2017 against a top international field also in the bag.
After winning silver at the Australian Open Matias said "Yeah, I'm pretty happy with that. I'm just working on my game and it's good to see it pay off in these events."
Congratulations to Matias for his recent success at the Australian Open.
