The Victorian Government is investing $12 million into the project that’s giving southern district grassroots football the modern, safe and inclusive facilities it deserves, and the St Kilda Football Club the high level training and rehabilitation facilities they need to return to finals glory.
This iconic ground will become a real community hub. The Saints will share the facilities with the South Metro Junior Football League, Southern Football Netball League, Sandringham Dragons and other AFL Victoria staff.
When complete, the upgrade will deliver modern administration and training facilities, improved lighting for training and community night games, better change rooms and amenities, new bistro and function spaces, a high-ball indoor training facility and gym, community recreation areas and improved car parking.
As the Saints gear up for a big 2017, the milestone signals the start of a new era for the proud club.
In addition, it will give about 15,000 budding footballers a flagship venue they can share with their heroes and be truly proud of.
It will also provide a better spectator experience for fans keen to see the big grabs and favourite players at training sessions and VFL matches, which is a great boost to the local economy.
ADCO Constructions Pty Ltd are building the world class redevelopment. New facilities for the Saints are expected to ready for the 2018 season, with the entire project to be completed in October later that year.
