The Victorian Budget 2018/19 kicks in $484.4 million plus a new $100 million Community Sports Loans Scheme in to the future of sport across Victoria – from grassroots clubs to the state’s biggest venues.
The State Netball Hockey Centre will get a $64.6 million upgrade to ensure that the facility becomes the premier home for netball and hockey in Australia and home for peak sporting bodies Netball Victoria and Hockey Victoria. Women in Sport Leadership Centre will also be based at the venue.
There's $15 million to the ground breaking Female Friendly Facilities Fund to ensure more women and girls can get their chance to play the sports they love.
An additional $15 million will upgrade key suburban sporting precincts, including:
- Albert Park
- Yarra Bend
- Jells Park
- Olinda Precinct
- Ryan's Reserve.
The funding package will also provide an additional $60 million for the Community Sporting Infrastructure Fund with $100 million towards the new Community Sports Infrastructure Loan Scheme to support councils, clubs, schools and facility managers invest in sport and recreation infrastructure.
In short this is the biggest investment into community sport and recreation in Victoria's history – so everyone has the facilities they need to play and watch the sport they love.
