$2 million Victorian Asian Cup 2015 Legacy Fund kicking goals for grassroots soccer
New pavilions, synthetic pitches and pitch lighting are just some of the new facilities grassroots soccer clubs from Williamstown to Leongatha will be receiving as part of the Victorian Government’s new $2 million Victorian Asian Cup 2015 Legacy Fund.
The success of the 2015 AFC Asian Cup exceeded all expectations. Not only did Australia beat South Korea 2-1 in a nail-biting final, it delivered a financial windfall for the entire country.
Record numbers of boys and girls, men and women, are signing up to play soccer, and they deserve modern, upgraded and safe infrastructure. More than 66,000 Victorians registered to play in grassroots soccer competitions in 2016.
